The top myths about US aid to Ukraine. Recently Hudson Institute has released a great report about the russian propaganda myths regarding US aid to Ukraine.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 𝟏: Washington is writing Kyiv “blank checks” that Americans cannot afford. Reality: There has never been a “blank check” to Ukraine. As of September 2023, the US has provided Ukraine with $101 billion. This averages out to 68 cents per day for an American adult. The vast majority of this money never leaves the US and instead supports American jobs. 

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 𝟐: There is not enough oversight of US aid to Ukraine. Reality: There has never been more accountability in place for US foreign assistance than what is available for Ukraine aid. More than 160 US officials across 20 federal oversight agencies monitor US aid to Ukraine. Congress has allocated $50 million for the Inspectors General of the DOD and USAID to increase oversight.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 𝟑: America is exponentially the largest donor to Ukraine. Reality: Total European commitments are now more than double those of the US. After totaling all aid, 20 European countries have given more to Ukraine than the US as a percentage of GDP. 

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 𝟒: Russia is a distraction. The US must focus on China. Reality: Russia is China’s junior partner. China is watching. A defeated Russia means a weaker China. A victorious Ukraine would strengthen Taiwan and deter China.

The Top Myths about US Aid to Ukraine

Russia's recent act of aggression has taken a terrifying turn. Cruise missiles were launched by russian forces at the peaceful city of Lviv, located far from the war's front line. This merciless strike has resulted in the loss of at least five innocent lives, with 40 others sustaining injuries in an apartment building directly hit by a missile.



Officials said it was the heaviest attack on civilian areas of Lviv since the Kremlin’s forces invaded the country last year.

The fact is it wasn't an isolated incident. Russians have repeatedly targeted civilian areas throughout the war, disregarding the sanctity of human life. Russian officials claim that they only choose military targets, but the facts on the ground paint a different picture.

Lviv is situated approximately 70 km (43 miles) from the border with NATO and European Union member state Poland.

President Zelensky has warned the global community about the preparations made by russian forces for a potential terrorist act at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. 



According to Ukrainian intelligence reports, russia is planning to detonate the reactor refrigerant, resulting in a dangerous radiation leak. The potential consequences of such an accident could be significantly worse than after the Chornobyl disaster.President Zelensky emphasized that radiation disregards national borders, and the impact of a potential catastrophe would solely depend on the direction of the wind. He urgently called upon international partners to assist in preventing this impending catastrophe."We are sharing all available information with our partners worldwide. Everyone in every corner of the world needs to be aware of this. Europe, America, China, Brazil, India, the Arab world, and Africa - all countries, without exception, should be informed. International organizations must also be involved. There should be no terrorist attacks on nuclear plants anywhere, ever. This time, it cannot be similar to what happened in Kakhovka. The world has been forewarned, and therefore, the world can and must take action," stated President Zelensky.

Zelensky Warning Russian Forces' Plan for Making Nuclear Disaster at Zaporizhzhia Plant

Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes in southern Ukraine by Russia's blowing up of a major hydroelectric dam on the Dnipro River in Nova Kakhovka near Kherson city. As a result, farms, roads, and numerous settlements within a radius of dozens of miles have been flooded. The rescue services of Ukraine evacuated about 17,000 civilians from their own territory, but approximately 25,000 civilians would also need to be evacuated from the Russian-occupied territories. The local mayor reported that the zoo, theater, kindergarten, and plaza were all underwater, as well as the home gardens of village farmers. This disaster is being called the most ecologically destructive in several decades.
President Zelenskyy has stated the undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP by the Russians increases the threat of a nuclear disaster because the destroyed dam was crucial not only as a water resource for the local population and Crimea but also as part of the cooling mechanism for the nearby nuclear power plant.
