Ukrainian American House at the Sacramento County Slavic Caucus Spring Celebration

Ukrainian American House CEO Denys Nakonechnyi participated as a featured speaker at the Sacramento County Slavic Caucus Annual Spring Celebration — an event bringing together leadership and staff from Sacramento County’s Department of Human Assistance (DHA), Department of Health Services (DHS), and Department of Child, Family and Adult Services (DCFAS).
The event was created to help county teams better understand the culture, experiences, and needs of Slavic communities living throughout the Sacramento region. That is why Denys Nakonechnyi was invited as a keynote speaker representing Ukrainian American House, whose daily work closely aligns with the mission and community focus of these county departments through direct support of Ukrainian and Slavic immigrant families across Sacramento County.
Because so much of our work happens directly within these communities, the conversation felt very natural and meaningful. During his presentation, Denys shared not only his personal story, but also spoke about the challenges many immigrant families face while adapting to life in the United States, the importance of culturally sensitive support, and the growing need for trusted community-centered resources.
He also presented the work and impact of Ukrainian American House, highlighting the organization’s community programs, integration support, educational initiatives, humanitarian assistance, and services helping Ukrainian and Slavic families navigate life in the Sacramento region.
In addition to participating as a speaker, Ukrainian American House also became a partner of the Slavic Caucus Scholarship Program by contributing a $1,500 scholarship sponsorship. The program supports talented students in the community and encourages educational growth and leadership opportunities for young people.
The Slavic Caucus itself is an organization within Sacramento County departments that works to support awareness, appreciation, and understanding of Slavic cultures and communities throughout the region.
For Ukrainian American House, partnerships like this are incredibly valuable. Collaboration with Sacramento County departments and community organizations allows us to better understand community needs, strengthen support systems, and multiply the positive impact of the work being done for Ukrainian, Slavic, and immigrant families across the region.
We are grateful for the opportunity to continue building these relationships and look forward to future collaboration together.
