For the UA House team, this event was not only a community celebration—it was a meaningful opportunity to meet families where they are and provide direct, in-person support to newcomer households. Staff members offered guidance and consultations for adults, children, and teenagers across adaptation, mental health, and social navigation programs. The gathering also highlighted the growing demand for culturally responsive services and reinforced UA House’s role as a trusted hub for immigrant families rebuilding their lives in California. The event clearly demonstrated the impact of investing in community-based programs that strengthen family stability, support emotional well-being, and create pathways for youth success.
UA House hosted a series of dedicated children’s and youth activities designed to foster creativity, connection, and confidence. This growing youth initiative aims to provide immigrant teens with mentorship, exposure to career pathways, and opportunities to build leadership skills.
“We know that newcomer youth face unique challenges,” the UA House team shared. “They need mentorship, role models, and access to opportunities that help them envision a strong future here in the United States. Our goal is to ensure they don’t just adapt—they thrive. Investment in young people is a strategic economic investment. ”
To reinforce this commitment, UA House sponsored and raffled five laptops, supporting students’ academic growth and digital access.
In addition to youth programming, the event offered direct consultations on adaptation, mental health, and social navigation—services that remain in high demand among newly arrived families. Mental Health Program and Event Coordinator Julia Myzga noted a significant number of women seeking emotional and psychological support, underscoring the ongoing need for trauma-informed care within the Ukrainian immigrant community.
Events like this allow UA House to meet families where they are and expand access to essential services. As a direct result of the celebration, more than 50 individuals expressed interest in joining UA House programs—clear evidence of both community trust and the increasing need for expanded support.
UA House extends its gratitude to Ukrainian KOLO, as well as all partners, donors, and volunteers whose support makes these initiatives possible. Continued investment will enable the organization to scale its youth programs, expand mental health services, and deepen its impact across the region.
UA House will host its next large-scale community event on June 6 and invites partners, supporters, and Ukrainian families to join in advancing this shared mission of empowerment, resilience, and opportunity for immigrant communities.
