UA House, together with Ukrainian KOLO, hosted a large family community celebration for the Ukrainian community in Sacramento this Saturday, May 9.
This event once again demonstrated how important spaces of support, unity, and connection are for Ukrainian immigrant families in the United States today. More than 500 adults and children attended the festival to enjoy community fellowship, Ukrainian culture, traditional food, meet new friends, and receive important support and guidance.
For the UA House team, this event was not only a community celebration, but also an important platform for direct engagement and support for families. Staff members provided consultations and assistance for adults, children, and teenagers through adaptation, mental health, and social navigation programs.
During the event, Julya Michael, coordinator of the mental health program, documented a significant number of requests from women seeking emotional and psychological support. Many participants mentioned the recent wellness retreat organized by VIDNOVA and UA House on the ocean coast and shared how meaningful it was for restoring inner balance, emotional strength, and a sense of community support.
UA House also placed special focus on children and youth. A creative children’s area was organized for Mother’s Day, where kids had the opportunity to create handmade gifts for their mothers.
In addition, UA House hosted a meeting for parents and teenagers as part of its pilot youth support initiative. We strongly believe that immigrant youth especially need mentorship, guidance, and access to growth opportunities during this critical stage of their lives. Exposure to business owners, doctors, educators, government professionals, and mentors can help young people discover their purpose, unlock their potential, and become confident, productive, and engaged members of society.
To support the idea of youth motivation through education and personal development, UA House sponsored and raffled 5 laptops for youth participants.
As a result of the event, more than 50 individuals expressed interest in joining the programs and support services provided by UA House.
We are deeply grateful to all partners, volunteers, and participants for their trust and collaboration in strengthening and supporting the Ukrainian immigrant community in California.
The next event in this format will take place on June 6, and we already invite Ukrainian families and partners to join this shared initiative of support and empowerment for immigrant communities.
