Ukrainian American House was pleased to welcome Charisse Sumabat, representative of the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and member of the Ukrainian Newcomer Support Program team, to our office for a working meeting focused on our ongoing collaboration in supporting newly arrived Ukrainian families.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss current work, and reflect on the progress of the program we are implementing together. As partners working toward the same goal, we continue to build effective ways to support Ukrainian newcomers as they adapt to life in the United States.

During the conversation, Charisse shared valuable insights from her professional experience and practical knowledge gained through her work with the program. Her perspective and guidance are especially important for helping us shape the direction of our future efforts and ensure that our services remain responsive to the real needs of the families we serve.

Through the Ukrainian Newcomer Support Program, hundreds of Ukrainian families in the Sacramento region have received comprehensive support while building their new lives in the United States. The program provides assistance in key areas such as education, employment, healthcare services, and long-term stability, including guidance toward financial independence and homeownership.

We highly value this partnership with CDSS and are grateful for the opportunity to be part of a shared mission focused on stability, integration, and long-term support for Ukrainian families. Working together allows us to strengthen the impact of the program and provide meaningful assistance to those starting a new chapter in the United States.
